Its small seeds can be difficult to see and spread evenly, often creating crowded patches and empty areas. Deerhorn Clarkia (Clarkia pulchella) is a native annual wildflower of the Inland Northwest, naturally growing on open hillsides, grasslands, dry meadows, and open pine forests. Its unique three-lobed petals make it one of the most recognizable native wildflowers of the region.

Best suited for: Full sun to light shade, well-drained soil, dry to medium moisture. Performs best when direct sown and readily reseeds in favorable conditions, returning year after year as a self-sowing annual.
RAKE
Clear away weeds and debris, then loosen the top inch of soil. Good prep helps the seeds make proper contact with the soil.
SHAKE
Shake pellets evenly across your area (~1 inch apart). Each pellet contains one seed, so spacing stays consistent and planting stays controlled.
PAT
Rake or pat seeds snug into the soil. This keeps them in place and ensures strong seed-to-soil contact.
WATER
Water once or twice daily. The soil should look dark, like a damp sponge for the first 2-3 weeks to to kickstart germination.
